Dunkaroo inspired dip

Dunkaroos are one of my favorite snacks on the planet. The crunchy cookie, the smooth frosting – it’s the perfect combo. So, in homage to my beloved childhood snack, I whipped up a quick, easy version that you can make at home! You can make a big batch of this and portion it out, and it’s great for kiddos too.

If you love Dunkaroos, check out my recipe for Dunkaroo Cake, which uses similar ingredients to create a cake that tastes just like that iconic blue tube! If you’re looking for some other dessert inspo, check out my Gluten Free Pretzel Fudge Bars, Funfetti Scones, PB&J Bars, or Salted Brownie Cookies.

The Cookies

Frankly, there are a million options for the cookie aspect of Dunkaroos. You could make your own (I would try a basic shortbread recipe, like this one from Preppy Kitchen), or use a pre-made cookie for optimal dunking. I personally went with Mini Nilla Wafers, as they were most reminiscent of a classic, circular Dunkaroos cookie, with minimal work. Plus, they’re adorable, delicious, and pretty diet friendly (5 mini Nilla Wafers is just 1 WW SP, so you can indulge!). Graham Crackers, Teddy Grahams, or just a spoon make for great vehicles for this Funfetti Frosting.

The Frosting

Dunkaroos is all about the frosting (for me, anyway). I wanted to create a homemade funfetti frosting that mimics the flavor that you’d find in that iconic blue tube. This frosting starts with a pretty simple buttercream base, and the addition of Cool Whip makes the frosting a bit lighter and fluffier. For optimum fluff, I beat mine with the whip attachment of my Kitchenaid Mixer, which makes frostings a breeze.

I’ve made variations of this recipe with plant based milk as well, and it works just fine.

Storing It

I prefer to store the frosting in an airtight container in the fridge, where it keeps pretty well for about a week. Then, I just portion out my cookies + frosting nightly, so I have a sweet treat after dinner and don’t have to bake something every night (yes, I have dessert after dinner every night. Frankly, sometimes I have it after every meal. Life’s short).
