Making healthy burger bowls

I love these because they’re super customizable. I wrote the recipe based on the toppings I would normally put on my burger, but you can totally add or subtract ingredients depending on what you like. While I make this recipe with ground beef, you can substitute turkey, chicken, tofu, etc. to make it fit your diet! To make these, I used:

For the burger meat:

  • Lean ground beef
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder
  • Grated onion (grating it is key!)

Just grate the onion into the meat and season. Spray a skillet over medium high heat with cooking spray and cook until meat is done (7-8 min, no pink remaining). Set aside.

Toppings:

  • Chopped romaine lettuce (which is really your base)
  • Tomato
  • Avocado
  • Fat free cheddar cheese
  • Pickles
  • Other great toppings would be: chopped red onion, caramelized onions, pickled jalapeños, micro greens, etc!

Clean and chop your veggies. Create a base of romaine and top with ground beef mixture and all of your toppings.

Burger sauce:

  • Light mayo
  • Ketchup
  • Dijon mustard
  • Dill pickle relish
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash of hot sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all the burger sauce ingredients together and mix until fully combined. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Add a dollop to your burger bowls and enjoy!

Creamy Pumpkin Pasta with Crispy Sausage

I love using pumpkin for baking in the Fall. However, most recipes don’t use a full can of pumpkin, and then I’m left with half a can or more sitting in my fridge. I hate wasting food, so that’s what inspired me to think about some creative ways
