Prepare the boxed stuffing according to the package instructions and set aside. If your sausage isn't fully cooked, cook it thoroughly and dice or crumble it and set aside.
Chop the onions, carrots, celery, and apples so everything cooks evenly.
In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion, carrot, and celery for about 4 minutes until slightly softened.
Add the diced apples and continue cooking for another 4 to 5 minutes.
Stir in the sausage and cook everything together for 6 to 8 minutes, until it’s warmed through and the vegetables and apples are tender.
Pour in the chicken broth or water, add the dried cranberries, and let them absorb some of the liquid for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the prepared stuffing mix to the skillet and stir everything together until evenly combined and heated through.
